At first I was on prednisolone and my doctor told me to reduce the dose every week too and at the same time to start taking azathioprine. I wasn’t well then but for sure didn’t felt worse after starting azathioprine. WebbPractical advice for patients who are started on AZA is to plan to continue treatment for 3–4 years and then to stop treatment except in those with evidence of continuing disease activity. For the 20% who relapse, AZA should be restarted and continued.
