Savings is defined as the relative amount of time saved on the second learning trial as a result of having had the first. WebEbbinghaus was a true pioneer in the area of research on memory and learning (Wozniak 1999 ). He developed the first scientific approach to the study of higher psychological processes and was the first psychologist who used nonsense syllables in learning and memory research.
