WebMay 2, 2024 · If you put a 30A dryer outlet in and install a 30A dryer cord as your SPA panel power supply you will be completely up to code. Mount the spa panel so its not a 'permanent fixture' and can be removed. You should have nothing to worry about as far as that goes, as long as the connection between breaker and outlet is installed correctly.

As soon as I turn on the key to power up, the spa panel immediately trips. I changed the key switch an same thing. I took the key switch out of the circuit and nothing, so I'm left to believe that the issue is with the contactor...

Yesterday, I realized I needed a different receptacle (I had an L14-20 receptacle, but my controller uses a 14-50 plug), so I replaced the receptacle. To check my work, I dug my multimeter out and tested it. Here's the wiring inside the spa panel:

In my area #10 is good for 30A, so you could tap off your dryer circuit with #10, and feed the spa panel with that. Conversely you could put a 50 amp cord end on your brewing equipment and use a 50 amp receptacle. Or you could use the 30 amp receptacle and 50 amp breaker, be careful and hope for the best . . .
