WebOct 11, 2010 · I used to have a 1980 Mercury where both headlights went out at the same time. I went crazy tracing through the wiring harness, sure that it was the switch, or the fuse, or the shared ground connection. Spent all afternoon on it out in the hot sun. Turned out to be the stupid bulbs. Save yourself some pain -- just buy new bulbs and try them first.
